History

We have had a family association with Bulldogs since 1919, although our breeding programme commenced in 2006 after spending a little over 3 years researching bloodlines and bulldog types.

We firmly beleive that it is critically important to look at the history behind any Bulldog, because breeding aims to improve the breed in general. We sincerely hope that our efforts will result in breed improvement, but in this instance we know that it will be history that will judge us.

IMPORTANT MILE STONES:

1919 - First Bulldog comes into the family - we know is that his name was GRIP and that he was dearly loved and lived on the East Coast of England

1983 - First Bulldog came into the lives of the present generation - Brinsmead Ballade (known as Zak) enjoyed nothing more than romps through Sherwood Forest and eventually emigrated to Australia. He made Page 3 of the UK Daily Mail as he was red meat intolerant, but thrived on Sardines, Weetbix and Spaghetti.

2000 - Russ and David welcome Julius (Bratrice The Rustler) into the family. Julius hated the Show Ring and took great delight in un-setting himself up whenever a Judge approached.

2003 - Avonmist Kennels (Melbourne) allowed Edward (Aust Ch. Avonmist Tunz of Frost) to come live in South Australia. Edward gave Russ and David their first taste of success in the Adelaide Show Ring when Mr. Percy Green (South Africa) awarded him a 13 point Best of Breed at the Adelaide Hills Show in late January 2005. Edward's curiosity eventually cost him his time with us as he was bitten by a snake on New Year's Day 2007 - by that time he had amassed some 407 points in his brief show career. Russ began researching in earnest and we developed contacts around the world as a result.

2005 - After 2 years research the decision was made to secure Kelloe stock if at all possible. This led to an introduction to the NZ based Longlands Kennel and Aust. Ch. Longlands To Die For (Bette) flew in from the North Island. She took out Puppy of Breed at the Royal Adelaide Show that same year and enjoys continued success in the Show Ring securing Best Intermediate in Show at the 2007 RASNT Royal Darwin Show

2006 - A trip to Europe to meet the men behind the world famous Kelloe Bulldogs and we came home with Aust. Ch Kelloe Red Endeavour (Paco) - he was titled within 11 weeks of leaving quarantine. Regretably Paco was only with us for a short time, but he left his mark and in December 2006 Bette gave birth to 3 boys sired by Paco and we finally had dogs under our own prefix. Vincent (Kellanz Red Endeavour - named after his Dad) is now also making his mark in the ring.

2007 - We moved to 83 rolling acres in the Hills above Adelaide - Bulldog Nirvana if the 'family' are any judge. We started the year not knowing what the future held, except for our commitment to the breed. Vincent continues to develop in both conformation, temperament and an amazingly mature attitude. This all came together in July when Mr Miles Gunter (NSW) awarded him BEST IN SHOW the day he turned 7 months of age. A week later Buzz (Aust Ch Dreamabull Inf N Beyond) was awarded Runner Up Best in Show by Mrs F Matthews (Qld) and then 6 days later Bette (Aust Ch Longlands to Die For (Imp NZ)) was awarded Best Internediate in Show by Mr Javier Ramirez Gomez (Mexico).

THE FUTURE - we maintain our view that there is something quite unique about a Bulldog - long may they continue to let us live with them.
